The department will then complete a checklist on the applicant to ensure all pre-testing requirements have been satisfied.
How much does the HESI A2 cost and what do I need to take the exam?
The cost of the exam is $50.00 for Tyler Junior College students. The student must pay for the exam and present a receipt to complete the exam. Payment can be made at the Testing Center or the Cashier’s Office in White Administration Building. The Cashier will accept check, credit card, money order or cash payments. Along with receipt of payment, the student will need to present a photo ID. Calculators may be used during the exam and are provided by the Testing Center.
Prior to testing students must create an account with Elsevier at www.hesiinet.com. Instructions on how to create an account and directions for testing will be given when the HESI ticket is given. You will need to meet with a Surgical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology representative. This representative will give you a ticket. Make sure the ticket has a department authorized signature, your student ID number (A#) and date. You will have four hours to test.
Can a student retest?
The HESI A2 may only be taken twice (one test, one retest) in one semester, including long summer, to achieve a passing score. If the minimum passing score is not reached on the first attempt, the student may retest in that area once per semester. Two hours are allowed on the retest. Passing scores are good for two years.
