How to Apply: Associate Degree Nursing

ADN/BSN Concurrent Enrollment

The Tyler Junior College, Associate Degree Nursing program and the University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing have developed a partnership to offer an exciting new option for students seeking to obtain their RN licensure and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The concurrent enrollment option provides motivated students a unique opportunity to graduate with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Tyler Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler at the same time.

The concurrent enrollment option will be available each fall semester to students who are offered conditional acceptance into the Traditional RN Track* at TJC.

*The concurrent enrollment option is currently not available for student accepted into an LVN-RN Transition or a Paramedic-RN Transition Track.

Concurrent Enrollment Preparation

If you are interested in the concurrent enrollment option, complete the following steps:

  1. Visit with a TJC Healthcare Professions advisor to ensure completion of the concurrent enrollment prerequisite courses.
  2. Submit an application for the Traditional RN Track (a class starting in the fall semester)
  3. Submit an application for general admission to UT Tyler.
  4. Submit official transcripts to UT Tyler for evaluation.
  5. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You need to list both Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas at Tyler on the FAFSA application.

Students are not required to submit a separate application to be considered for the concurrent enrollment option. The UT Tyler School of Nursing will conduct an eligibility review of students who are offered conditional acceptance into the Traditional RN Track at TJC. Those students who meet all BSN requirements will be offered the choice to participate in the concurrent enrollment option.

If at any time during enrollment in the ADN/BSN concurrent enrollment option a student is not eligible to continue in the AND program at TJC, they must also withdraw from all BSN courses at UT Tyler.
