Child Development/Early Childhood

The first years of a child’s life can have a profound impact on the way they learn, communicate and grow. If you have a desire to work with children and families, then the Child Development and Early Childhood program would like to welcome you.

The Child Development and Early Childhood program at TJC is intended to provide special training and support services for adults who are interested in the early education and care of young children. With a focus on the practical application of current theory, we will show you how to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children.

Many of our graduates work in Human Services or Social Work, while others use their credentials to gain increased employment opportunities at their current jobs in the early childhood professions. For more advanced degrees, TJC maintains an articulation agreement with Stephen F. Austin, which allows you to transfer seamlessly and complete your 3rd and 4th year online at SFA.
