Online and Off-Campus TSI Testing

We always prefer that you come to TJC, or take the TSI at a local community college testing center. However, we understand that this may not always be possible. In that case, taking the TSI online or at a remote testing center might be an option.

STEP ONE: You must complete a TSI Pre-Assessment Activity.

STEP TWO: There are two different ways for you to take the TSI Assessment: (1) Off-Campus Remote Proctoring and (2) Online Proctoring.

1: How to Take The TSI Remotely:

You must have a computer with a camera and a good internet connection. TJC partners with Examity to offer online proctoring services.

If you choose Online Proctoring, you must first call our testing center at 903-510-2617 to pay the required fee. Once the fee is paid, please complete the following form:

Remote TSI Testing Voucher Request Form

Testing Services will create an account and voucher number. For TJC students, both exams will cost $20 and one exam will cost $10. For non-TJC students, both exams will cost $30 and one exam will cost $15. Once payment is received, you will receive an email with instructions. Examity charges $25 for the proctoring fee at the time the appointment is scheduled. If a student fails to attend the appointment, the Examity fee is not refunded, and they will have to pay the fee again when rescheduling.

How long does the test take to complete?

Expect to devote 3 to 4 hours if taking all sections. This is an important test in determining which courses you are eligible to take.

2: Off-Campus Remote Proctoring

If you live near an institution of higher learning that has a testing center, you may choose to take your TSI assessment at that center. Please call your local testing center to find out if they will proctor the TSI. If they will, please obtain their contact information.

You will then contact TJC's Testing Services Department at TestingServices@tjc.edu or 903-510-2617 and provide the following information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Birthdate
  • Name of institution where student would like to take the TSI (NOTE: this institution may charge the student a fee to take the test in their testing center)
  • Proctor Name
  • Proctor Phone Number and Email Address

Using this information, Testing Services will create an account and voucher number. You would then pay TJC for the exam/exams needed. For TJC students, both exams will cost $20 and one exam will cost $10. For non-TJC students, both exams will cost $30 and one exam will cost $15. Once payment is received, you will receive an email with instructions. Testing Services will then contact the proctor to verify that they work for the institution and have the proper credentials. Testing Services will then send the proctor instructions on how to administer the exam. It will then be up to you to contact the proctor to schedule a time to come in and test.
