Library Policies

Fines and Holds

TJC students may check out up to 12 items at any one time. A limit of 20 items may be checked out by TJC employees. Nonstudents may only check out two items at any one time. A fine of 25 cents per day per item - up to a maximum of $10 each - is charged for overdue books. No fine is charged for TJC employees.

Reference materials may be checked out by all patrons for 3 days. Reserve materials may only be used inside the library.

When items become overdue or when an item is turned in but the fine remains unpaid, a hold is placed on the patron's record, both in the Horizon (library automation) system and on the student's record in Banner. The hold must be resolved before student transcripts will be released.
