Theatre TJC presents Tennessee Williams’ ‘Summer and Smoke,’ April 24-27

For its final production of the 2023-24 season, Theatre TJC delves into “Summer and Smoke,” one of the most engaging and heartbreaking love stories in Tennessee Williams’ canon.

Set in Mississippi in the early 1900s, the play tells the star-crossed tale of a puritanical Southern girl and a wild, adventurous young doctor. Each is attracted to the other, but their divergent attitudes toward life keep them at odds.

The production is under the direction of Dr. David W. Crawford, TJC theatre professor.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, April 24-26, and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Jean Browne Theatre on the TJC central campus.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors ages 65 and up, students and active military. The TJC Box Office opens Wednesday, April 17. Box office hours are 3-5:30 p.m. weekdays. Daily box office operations are in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center, with evening operations in the lobby outside Jean Browne Theatre. For reservations, call 903-510-2212.
