The Tyler Junior College Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will perform a pair of free holiday concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 6 and 7.
The TJC choral groups are under the direction of Robert Boren. Collaborative pianist is Charles Praytor, TJC music and piano professor.
‘A Christmas Invitational’ on Dec. 6
For “A Christmas Invitational,” the TJC groups will perform a combined concert with high school choirs from Bullard, Jacksonville, Marshall and Whitehouse.
The performance will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Wise Auditorium, located in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center on the TJC Central Campus. Admission is free.
High school choir directors are Luke Dean, Bullard; Tiffany Hammock, Jacksonville; Stephanie Ferro, Marshall; and Amy McMichael, Whitehouse.
‘Christmas Downtown’ on Dec. 7 at Marvin UMC
The TJC groups’ annual “Christmas Downtown” concert set for noon Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the sanctuary of Marvin United Methodist Church, located at 300 W. Erwin St., in downtown Tyler. Admission is free.
Program selections include: “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen, “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl, “Modeh Ani” by Monica Miller and arranged by TJC music professor Frank Kimlicko, “Laudate Dominum” by Mozart, and “Gaudete!” by Michael Engelhardt.
