TJC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter named top chapter in state

In addition to being named the No. 1 chapter in the state, TJC’s Alpha Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) also brought home several other awards from the recent PTK Texas Regional Convention.

State awards included:
 
• Most Distinguished Member in Texas: Albertini Caporali, Center 
 
• Most Distinguished Officer Team in Texas: Anahi Hernandez, Longview; Amy Joffrion, Whitehouse; Katy Bumbard, Pueblo, Colorado; Michelle Reyes, Cartagena, Colombia; Morgan Gray, Troup; Jacob Griffith, Whitehouse; Jontel Jones-Coleman, Silsbee; Amaya Blanton, of Tyler; Anastasia Oxler, Tyler; Harold Herrington, Elkhart; Tim Stringer, Groveton; Cruz Perez, Tyler; and Mistie Diggs, Tyler 
 
• Distinguished Advisor Team: Gigi Delk, Nancy Carter and B.J. Williams
 
• College Project Award of Distinction – Top College Project in Texas: “TJC Cares! Emotional, Physical and Academic Wellness Expo”
 
• Honors in Action Award of Distinction: “Major Madness Career Exploration Fair”
 
• Honors in Action Theme Award: “Worlds of Work”
 
“We are thrilled that, out of 91 chapters, Alpha Omicron was named the No. 1 chapter in Texas,” said Gigi Delk, TJC professor and PTK faculty advisor. “Alpha Omicron was elected District III Vice President, and we will be electing our chapter's representative in the next few weeks.”
 
In light of schedule changes due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Delk said the annual PTK spring induction ceremony would be rescheduled from March 24 to a later date to be announced.
