The Tyler Junior College Chamber Singers, Concert Choir and Harmony & Understanding will perform a pair of free holiday concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 3 and 4.
The TJC choral department is under the direction of Dr. Eric Posada. Accompanists are TJC piano professors Dr. Gjergji Gaqi and Charles Praytor.
‘A Christmas Invitational’ on Dec. 3
For “A Christmas Invitational,” the TJC groups will perform a joint concert with the Bullard and Jacksonville high school choirs at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 230 W. Rusk St., in Tyler.
The Bullard High School Choir is under the direction of Luke Dean, and Jacksonville choral director is Tiffany Hammock.
‘Christmas Downtown’ on Dec. 4 at Marvin UMC
The TJC groups’ annual “Christmas Downtown” concert is set for noon Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the sanctuary of Marvin United Methodist Church, located at 300 W. Erwin St., in downtown Tyler.
Admission to the concert is free; however, cost for the optional lunch following the performance is $5 per person.
Program selections include popular modern-day hits such as “Santa Tell Me” and “Text Me Merry Christmas” and classics including “Joy to the World,” “Ave Maria,” “Jingle Bells” and “The Christmas Song.”
“This is one of our favorite performances of the year,” Posada said. “We invite the community to join us as we celebrate the holiday season.”
