Tyler Junior College’s business services division has been recognized for improving students’ online payment experience.
TJC recently received the Distinction Award for Student Experience from Blackboard Payments Powered by Cashnet for being the first adopter of Project Viking.
Improvements included a redesigned user interface with a responsive, mobile-first design for use on any screen size, including mobile phone, tablet and laptop.
“The clean design helps payers better digest information,” said Carol Hutson, TJC executive director of business services. “It’s much more intuitive for our students to use and provides contextual information to help them make good decisions and meet their financial obligations.”
New graphics give students a clear status of their payment plans and balances. Improved features include the ability to make tuition payments and save a payment method; view, enroll and manage payment plans; and view receipts or recent payments.
TJC went live with the new interface in September 2018. In a student survey immediately following the update, 100 percent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the new process was easy to use, and 87 percent agreed or strongly agreed that information presented in the new experience was helpful to them.
