TJC exceeds goal in 7th annual ‘50 Gallon Challenge’ blood drive

For the seventh straight year, Tyler Junior College met and exceeded its goal of collecting 50 gallons of blood.

According to Lauren Tyler, TJC director of student life, 52.5 gallons or 420 units were collected during the week-long blood drive at the College.

Since TJC began its “50 Gallon Challenge” seven years ago, more than 350 gallons of blood have been collected, potentially saving more than 8,400 lives here in East Texas.

“We are so grateful to students, faculty, staff and people from the Tyler community who took time out of their day to donate and help us exceed our goal,” said Tyler. “We appreciate everyone’s willingness to help others.”
