Gov. Greg Abbott appoints TJC Dental Clinic Coordinator to Dental Review Committee

TJC’s Amanda M. Richardson has been appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Dental Review Committee. A registered dental hygienist, Richardson serves as professor and clinical coordinator at TJC.

The committee serves on informal settlement conference panels to determine whether an informal disposition of a contested case against a license holder is appropriate, and to make recommendations for the disposition of the complaint or allegation. Richardson’s term expires on Feb. 1, 2023.

Richardson is a member of the American Dental Education Association, East Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association, Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association, and the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and a member and president of the Texas Dental Hygiene Clinical Coordinators’ Association. She received an Associate of Applied Science in dental hygiene from TJC, a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from Texas Woman’s University, and a Master of Science in human resource development from The University of Texas at Tyler.

“We congratulate Amanda for receiving this appointment from the governor,” said Paul Monagan, dean of the TJC School of Nursing and Health Sciences. “We appreciate her service to our School of Nursing and Health Sciences and the dental profession she so ably represents.”

TJC offers three Dental Studies programs: Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene Associate's Degree and Dental Hygiene Bachelor's Completion Program. TJC is currently the only community college in Texas to offer a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.
