Demi Dotson-Wilkins has been named head coach of the TJC cheer team.
A native of Corsicana, Dotson-Wilkins has dedicated her life to the sport of cheerleading. As a student at Texas Wesleyan University, she cheered for four years and played softball as dual athlete. Dotson-Wilkins holds a master’s degree from Lamar University and is currently pursuing her doctorate at Mississippi State University.
Wilkins has continued to shape the sport through coaching, leadership and education. Her cheerleading career spans more than a decade of service with the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), where she is now in her 12th summer working with athletes and coaches nationwide.
She served as head cheer coach at Jacksonville High School for five years and led the program at Corsicana High School for one year. In addition to coaching, she took on the role of JHS spirit coordinator before transitioning to TJC. Dotson-Wilkins also brings experience in all-star cheer, serving as the recreation program director at Flyer Athletics in Tyler.
She and her husband, Matt Wilkins, have two children, Ali and Eli.
“We are thrilled to welcome Demi to our cheer program,” said Lauren Tyler, TJC director of student life. “I believe she will bring a fresh vision for our team and make an outstanding addition to our college game-day environment.”
