Little ghouls and goblins — plus their mummies and daddies — are invited to a fang-tastic time at TJC’s 10th annual “Halloween at Home Plate” baseball game on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Mike Carter Field.
Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
Sponsored by TJC’s Student Life department and Apache Athletics, the event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a Trunk or Treat, with TJC departments and organizations hosting booths with free food, fun activities and candy for the kids. Free nachos and drinks will be available while supplies last, and food trucks will be on hand for purchase.
At 6 p.m., the Apache Baseball team will take the field for their costume game.
“This began as a just a fun, inter-squad game among the Apache Baseball team,” said Doug Wren, TJC director of intercollegiate athletics. “A few years ago, we teamed up with our friends in the TJC Student Life office and it has grown into a really fun, family event.”
Following the costume game, kids in attendance will be invited on the field to run the bases and take photos with the Apache Baseball team.

“We look forward to this game every year,” said Lauren Tyler, TJC director of student life. “The Apache Belles and TJC Cheer will also be joining the fun this year.
“It’s a fun and safe way for kids to celebrate Halloween, and it’s so much fun to watch them get excited about seeing some of their favorite characters on the field. In past years, we’ve seen Scooby Doo and Shaggy, ninjas, cowboys and all sorts of superheroes. Every year, there’s a new batch of characters.”
