Accreditations by Program

Professional and Technical Programs

This document lists programs in the School of Professional and Technical Programs at Tyler Junior College with national or state certification or accreditation and their accreditation/state certification agencies. The name of each program is followed by the date of the most recent comprehensive review in parenthesis. 

Automotive Technology (2013)

Tyler Junior College Automotive Technology Program is recognized as a master Automobile Service Technology program by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). The program meets all standards in the following areas: Automatic Transmission and Transaxle, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering.

Most recent site visit was fall 2013.

Accreditation continues until January 2019.

Health Information Technology (2001)

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Most recent site visit was 2001

CAHIIM Annual Program Assessment Report (APAR) is due June 1st of each year.

Accreditation is continued each year based on acceptance of APAR submission.

A Self-Assessment was submitted May 1, 2016, in compliance with Maintaining of Accreditation Standard VIII.35

Next on-site visit will be during 2016-2017.

Emergency Medical Service Professions (2013)

The EMSP Program is approved by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP).

Initial Accreditation received July, 2013; expires July 31, 2018.

Professional Tennis Management (2013 – telephone only)

Professional Tennis Management is accredited by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). The process is currently undergoing revisions by the USPTA Education Committee. No further correspondence has been received since the letter of November 2012.

Accreditation is considered to be ongoing unless otherwise notified.
