Frequently asked questions

Are there any scholarships available for Baylor Bound students?

Students participating in the Baylor Bound Program will apply for scholarships using the TJC general scholarship application while attending TJC and will apply for academic scholarships to Baylor by virtue of their application for admission when preparing to transfer. Based on the high standards set by Baylor for freshman acceptance, TJC also has high expectations for students entering as freshman to demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, which could qualify students for our Presidential Honors Scholarship. TJC awards the Presidential Honors Scholarship to eligible students who apply for scholarships and meet ONE of the three following criteria:

  1. Rank in the top ten percent of their high school class at the completion of their junior year;
  2. Rank in one of the top ten positions of their high school class at the completion of their junior year and demonstrate college readiness as defined through the Texas Success Initiative;
  3. Achieve at least a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA and a composite score of 26 on the ACT (minimum of 19 on both the English and mathematics sub-tests required) OR a combined SAT score of 1200 or higher on the math and critical reading sub-tests (minimum of 500 on both sub-tests required).

Students who graduate from any TJC service area high school and meet one of the first two criteria listed above are guaranteed the Presidential Honors Scholarship upon successful completion of acceptance requirements. All other applicants will be awarded based on a competitive review process.
