As of January 1, 2012, Texas law requires all entering students to show evidence of an initial bacterial meningitis vaccine or a booster dose during the five-year period preceding, and at least 10 days prior, to the first day of the first semester in which the student initially enrolls at a Texas higher education institution.
You need the vaccine if you are:
- Under 22 years old
- A first-time student of an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education
- A transfer student
- A student who previously attended an institution of higher education before January 1, 2012 who is enrolling again following a break in enrollment of at least one fall or spring semester.
Proof of your bacterial meningitis immunization or exemption must be submitted on the listed due date or you will be dropped from your classes, as required by Texas state law.

|Summer II 2023||June 30, 2023|

To obtain an Exemption from Meningococcal Vaccination Requirements for Reasons of Conscience visit https://co-request-jc.dshs.texas.gov/.
Note- Approved quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines protect against four of the strains of meningococci that cause disease (A, C, Y and W-135). The Meningococcal Group B (MenB) vaccines, which only protect against one strain (B), do not meet the requirement of a quadrivalent vaccine given within 5 years.
