Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

As of January 1, 2012, Texas law requires all entering students to show evidence of an initial bacterial meningitis vaccine or a booster dose during the five-year period preceding, and at least 10 days prior, to the first day of the first semester in which the student initially enrolls at a Texas higher education institution.

You need the vaccine if you are:

  • Under 22 years old
  • A first-time student of an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education
  • A transfer student
  • A student who previously attended an institution of higher education before January 1, 2012 who is enrolling again following a break in enrollment of at least one fall or spring semester.

Proof of your bacterial meningitis immunization or exemption must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the listed due date or you will be dropped from your classes, as required by Texas state law.

Documentation due by 4 p.m.
