Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship

In 2022, the Brookshire SMU/Tyler Junior College Transfer Scholarship was established. This transfer scholarship provides $10,000 annually ($5,000 per semester), in addition to any existing transfer scholarship and financial aid. It is renewable for up to 5 terms or until graduation, contingent upon transfer students maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA while at SMU. Preference is given to Cox School of Business students with financial need, and recipients may combine this scholarship with other eligible awards.

To qualify for the Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Submit the Application by March 22, 2024.
  • Be on track to graduate with an associate degree in May 2024.
  • Fulfill all admission requirements for SMU

Upon approval by the scholarship office, students are responsible for preparing their own letter of recommendation, subject to a final review before submission to SMU. The scholarship office will provide guidance on preparing the letter of recommendation. Subsequently, recommendations will be sent to SMU on behalf of the President, who will notify applicants upon final selection. If necessary, students will meet individually with the TJC President.

To be eligible, students must be on track to graduate from TJC in May, be in good moral standing with the dean of students, and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Priority consideration is given to business majors with financial need.

Applicants must complete an admissions application to SMU and apply for financial assistance through the FAFSA and additional scholarships. SMU will review to ensure completion of all required components and make final selections. Notification of their decision will be sent via email to the SMU student email address.

The application period to apply is January 1, 2024 – March 22, 2024.
