The Basic Firefighter certificate provides you with the knowledge and skills required for entry-level positions in a wide range of fire departments. Upon certificate completion you will be eligible to test for the Basic Structure Firefighter Certification with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. You also will be eligible to test for Emergency Medical Technician status with the Department of State Health Services.

Note: After successfully completing these courses, students can apply to the state Basic Structure Firefighter Certification Exam with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the National Registry of EMTs Examination for Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
