TJC, Kilgore College choral groups join for combined concert on March 2

The Tyler Junior College and Kilgore College choral groups will perform a combined concert 6 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in Wise Auditorium on the TJC main campus.

Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

The groups are under the direction of Dr. Eric Posada, TJC director of choral music, and Dr. Zachary Marshall, KC director of choral activities.

The program will include varied musical selections, including: Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” Morten Lauridsen’s “Prayer,” “Turn the World Around” by Harry Belafonte, and “Choose Something Like a Star” by Randall Thompson.

For the Vivaldi piece, Posada will conduct the groups, who will be accompanied by an orchestra comprised of community musicians.

“We are very excited about this performance,” Posada said. “The groups will spend all day Saturday preparing for the evening’s concert. They will rehearse together, have lunch together, and experience instruction from the faculty members of both choir programs.”
