TJC, UT Tyler co-host event for Hispanic students

Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas will co-host Family Day, a day of information sessions for prospective Hispanic students and their families, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. A free meal will also be served.

Family Day is for Hispanic middle and high school students and their parents who are interested in learning about college educational opportunities in Tyler.

The event will begin at TJC, with a 9 to 11 a.m. information session in the Apache Rooms of Rogers Student Center; then buses will shuttle participants to UT Tyler for an 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. session in the UT University Center’s Grand Ballroom.

"In years past, this event has been called a progressive dinner; it’s a great opportunity for prospective students to learn about the educational opportunities at both campuses," TJC admissions recruiter David Gonzalez said. "We will also have some great door prizes to give away."

Representatives of TJC and UT Tyler will be on hand with admissions applications and materials and to answer any questions.

The event is sponsored by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and Gear Up.

To make reservations, or for more information, call Gonzalez at 903-510-3247 or e-mail him at dgon@tjc.edu.
