TJC Jazz Ensembles in concert Thursday, Oct. 4

The Tyler Junior College Jazz Ensembles will perform 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in Wise Auditorium on the TJC main campus.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

“We have a fantastic program lined up for our first concert of the year, including a wide variety of styles. From rock to Latin, swing to funk, there's a little something for everyone and fun for the whole family,” said Heather Mensch, TJC assistant director of bands and professor of low brass. Mensch is also director of TJC Jazz Ensemble 1.
 
The program includes selections from jazz greats including Nat King Cole, Charles Mingus, Buddy Rich, Chick Corea, Diana Krall and more.

Special guest artists will be Kara Story, vocals, and Gary Freeman, piano.

TJC Jazz Ensemble 2 is under the direction of Dr. Steven Meier, assistant director of bands and professor of woodwinds.
