TJC Indoor Drumline to perform Wednesday
Published Monday, 7th April 2014
The TJC Indoor Drumline will give a showcase performance 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Wagstaff Gym, just prior to leaving for Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
In their 2014 competition show, called “It All Runs Out,” the group incorporates a variety of time elements ranging from hourglass sand flowing from the drums to the use of digital countdown clocks.
Thirty-two students make up the TJC Indoor Drumline, which consists of marching percussion (also called battery) and front ensemble (pit) sections of a marching band or drum corps. Indoor percussion combines elements of music performance, marching and theater.
On Saturday, TJC won the World Class State Championship at the Texas Color Guard Circuit’s state competition held at Texas A&M University in College Station. TJC has placed first or second at TCGC for the last three years.
The group is under the direction of Tom McGowan, TJC director of applied percussion, and Karman Trotter, choreographer.
