The Tyler Junior College Small Business Development Center will offer ways to raise those abilities with its upcoming Management Skills Certification Seminar.

The seminar consists of six entrepreneurial courses beginning Thursday evening, April 24, and will meet on consecutive Thursdays through May 29. Classes will meet 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 134, in the RTDC building on the TJC West Campus, located at 1530 South Southwest Loop 323.

This six-week seminar teaches valuable skills in legal matters, business planning, accounting and taxes, banking, advertising and strategic thinking for small businesses. Instructors for each of these classes are accomplished business professionals in their area of experience. Participants in this seminar have the opportunity to question the instructors about the business topics covered. This valuable advice would be costly if sought individually.

The seminar is designed for individuals who currently own a small business or who are considering starting their own small business. Often business owners send their employees to this seminar to give them a better understanding of the business environment in which they are working. The classes are considered as information-only classes with no outside reading assignments or tests given. A notebook containing material presented by each instructor will be made available to each participant.

To register for this seminar, call the TJC School of Continuing Studies at 903-510-2900. Cost for all six classes is $99 per person. The course number is BUSG1011 CRN15107 and is titled Management Skills Certification.
