Music students participate in singing competition

TJC voice students J.C. Schmidt and Rachel Creason participated in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Association for Teachers of Singing auditions on Saturday, April 6, in Denton.

Schmidt is from Whitehouse, and Creason is from Tyler. They are students of Andrea Trent, TJC professor of voice.

More than 200 singers from colleges and universities in the north and northeast Texas area auditioned and competed in both competitive and non-competitive rounds of both classical music and musical theater.

Some of the schools represented were Baylor University, the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Woman’s University, Tarleton State University, and the University of North Texas.
