Published Tuesday, 9th April 2013

TJC’s student-led literary publication, The Bell Tower Arts Journal, received multiple awards in the Literary Magazine Division of the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association annual conference.

Faculty adviser Dr. Linda Gary said, “These awards are all the more significant since the literary magazine contest is an open division, which means TJC is judged not only against other two-year colleges, but also against top-notch universities.”

TJC brought home the following awards:

• First place, Literary Magazine Cover Design – Gabe Urbina, Tyler
• Second place, Literary Magazine Overall Excellence
• Third place, Literary Magazine – Feature Photo – Grace Stubblefield, Lindale
• Honorable Mention, Literary Magazine – Illustration – Amanda Hatfield, Lindale
• Honorable Mention, Literary Magazine – Short Story – Raymond Homan, Athens
• Honorable Mention, Literary Magazine – Poem – Blake Acker, Albuquerque, N.M.

“Clearly, our arts journal represents the best in artistic and literary talent among students in Texas,” Gary said. “We are extremely proud of these students and the dedicated faculty in art, graphic arts and English, who work so hard to help them hone their talents.”
