Art student showcase set May 1-10 in Wise gallery

Works of three TJC art students will be displayed May 1-10 in the TJC Wise Auditorium Art Gallery.

Students featured in the showcase include Amanda Hatfield, Lorianne Hubbard and Jennifer Motes

Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

An artists' reception will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday May 1, in the gallery.

These works include a variety of media including painting, sculpture and mixed media.

These TJC students were awarded a 2011-12 performance grant, have a good grade-point average and are creating art to present in an end-of-semester exhibition. The student showcase exhibition allows artists exposure as well as the experience of creating exhibition-ready artwork. Students display their art at a professional level and are integral in curating, promoting and installing the exhibition.

Amanda Hatfield – paintings on canvas of outlandish and fairy tale imagery. Exquisite and eye catching, these fantastic figurative forms will transport the viewer to far away imagined worlds.

Lorianne Hubbard – exquisite drawings showing a mastery of technique and form. Subtle shades of naturalistic value create

Jennifer Motes – fanatical sculptures of mystical creatures visually alive with colors and textures.
