Communications / Journalism

The primary purpose of the Communications Department is to provide students seeking associate degree or transfer credit training in the history and future of media, as well as experience in writing new stories, editing copy, designing newspaper pages, shooting and editing video, designing ads, exercising sound news judgment and gaining a basic understanding of the First Amendment rights of all Americans, media ethics and media law. An additional purpose is to provide the school newspaper and web site as student-centered, hands-on learning experiences.
