The Institutional Research Office (IR), as part of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Research, assists Tyler Junior College in achieving its mission through the collection, analysis, and distribution of information. IR works with data from internal areas and sources including information related to students, programs, and facilities, and external areas and sources such as national surveys and databases, to provide an assessment of Tyler Junior College that is as comprehensive and complete as possible.
The role of Institutional Research is to provide an accurate data based representation of Tyler Junior College that informs and facilitates institutional strategic planning, decision making, problem solving, and ongoing operations, as well as supporting grant opportunities and accreditation activities. While IR strives to satisfy data and information requests, its primary purpose is to provide data analysis and information to the College to enable data-informed decision making by the president's office, the budget office, divisions, schools, and departments. IR must also satisfy significant data demands of external groups such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, federal agencies, national surveys, and the media.
