Sigma Kappa Delta
Psi Gamma – Tyler Chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta, the National English Honor Society
Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) is a prestigious national academic honor society that promotes language, literature, and communication skills—all of which are necessary for success in any profession. Moreover, four-year colleges and potential employers seek those individuals who demonstrate active involvement in worthwhile organizations like SKD.
Members of SKD are able to network with professionals in publishing, journalism, law, communications, advertising, business, and more. Active members in this organization develop important leadership skills, gain recognition for academic achievement, have greater access to scholarships, sponsor an award-winning magazine (The Bell Tower Arts Journal) and support the humanities in Tyler. The members of the Psi Gamma – Tyler Chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta represent the best at TJC!
Qualified students have the opportunity to join the Psi Gamma – Tyler Chapter of SKD early in the spring and fall semesters by letter of invitation sent through the campus email. Membership is open to all majors who meet the following criteria:
- Current enrollment at Tyler Junior College
- Completion of at least twelve (12) college credit hours
- Minimum grade point average of 3.3
- No grade lower than a B in any English class
Moreover, because we know that our students have little time to spare, the SKD chapter at TJC is entirely online! That means that members can participate through The Bell Tower Arts and Humanities web page, which is available through Apache Access.
