Engineering Design Technology
The mission of the Engineering Design Technology program is to produce work ready, entry level design technicians in the areas of mechanical design, architecture, process piping design and civil engineering.
Technological advancements have revolutionized the design process in American industry. Engineering designers use computer-aided drafting to create detail drawings and working plans for the construction and manufacturing industry. It is from these CAD drawings that the conceptualization of an idea or design is transformed into a produced product.
The two engineering design labs are equipped with TJC's newest and most powerful computer workstations. The computers are loaded with the latest version of the software taught in the various engineering design courses. A variety or printers and large-format plotters are available for hard copy versions of student assignments and projects. The newest addition is a 3D printer that can produce solid objects based on input from design software.
