TJC NOW

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic is undeniable and has resulted in challenges for college students across the nation. Unfortunately, the crisis has created numerous obstacles and restrictions for TJC students.

Recently, a group came together to address an emergency need. Student leaders stepped forward with a gift to TJC NOW. The gift was matched by TJC president Dr. Juan E. Mejia, the Tyler Junior College Foundation, the TJC Alumni Association and community contributors. A total of $108,000 was given to TJC NOW to provide remote technology for TJC students who do not have access otherwise during this difficult time. The local Best Buy store joined the collaboration and provided a deep discount on technology packages, which include laptops, various accessories and support from the company’s “Geek Squad.” This generous partnership funded emergency resources, which are being distributed to deserving TJC students.

"We recently transitioned to online classes due to COVID-19, and it hasn’t been so easy. The moment I was told that I was going to receive a laptop, I was at a loss for words. It will be very beneficial on my journey to success.

As a first-generation college student, I am in the top 5% at TJC which has been made possible because of the amazing resources that are provided by TJC and donors. I cannot put into words how thankful I am. You all make success possible, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
