About Tyler Junior College

Tyler Junior College enrolls approximately 9,700 students each fall semester and serves about 12,000 different credit students during the course of a year. In addition, TJC is the primary provider of continuing education and non-credit instruction in East Texas, serving approximately 15,000 students each year.

TJC is located in Tyler, Texas, 110 miles east of Dallas and approximately 90 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Tyler Junior College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award the Associate in Arts degree, the Associate in Applied Science degree and certificates of proficiency.

Established in 1926 as part of the Tyler Public School System, Tyler Junior College became an independent district with the approval of voters in 1945. In 2006 TJC celebrated its 80th year of excellence in education!
