The purpose of the English as a Second Language program at Tyler Junior College is to prepare students to read, write, speak and think critically in English. The primary goals of the program are to prepare students for college-level courses and to gain proficiency and life skills in everyday English.

critical thinking
skills, vocabulary expansion and the use of campus resources such
