Tyler Junior College invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President, Student Affairs. As the chief student affairs officer, the Vice President, Student Affairs reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the Executive Cabinet, both as an advocate for student educational and co-curricular interests and as an advisor in institutional decision-making including strategic planning, master planning for new facilities and technology development. Under the direction of President Mike Metke, the College is in the process of implementing a comprehensive facilities master plan that includes goals of increasing on-campus residency while maintaining a variety of residential choices and providing for the growth and enhancement of co-curricular, recreational and social programs.

The Vice President, Student Affairs provides leadership to the departments of enrollment management, student life and involvement, support services, student discipline, financial aid intercollegiate athletics, First Year Experience, and residential life. This position provides leadership and direction to multicultural and diversity related programs and services that contribute to overall student learning and student life. The successful candidate should demonstrate progressive leadership experience in the administration of student development programs as well as leadership and effectiveness in developing innovative educational and retention programs for traditional and non-traditional students.

Candidates should possess (1) a Master’s Degree in a student affairs related or instructional field with an earned doctorate preferred, (2) at least five years of experience and demonstrated effectiveness in administrative leadership, preferably in areas of student life, (3) sound judgment and strong commitment to the value of diversity in the educational setting, (4) clear commitment to the development of an academic-residential campus environment, (5) excellent leadership, organizational, managerial, administrative, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills (6) team player qualities and (7) have the ability to work collaboratively across campuses, schools, departments, and programs.

Screening of applicants will commence November 9, 2009. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2010.

SALARY: Commensurate with Established Schedule
* This is a security sensitive position and a background check will be completed prior to hiring.
