Overview

Four traditional camps are designed for students ages 8–17. The High School Varsity Camp is open to varsity team high school players only.

Traditional camps are open to players from all levels; beginner through advanced. No more than six students to an instructor with instructors from Tyler Junior College Tennis Tech, TJC championship teams, and top area coaches.

Tentative evening activities: team tennis on Sunday and Monday evenings; off-court entertainment: swimming on Monday and Wednesday, outdoor games on Tuesday, and social on Thursday evening.

Facility/Location

  • Eight outdoor courts—four lit for night play
  • Modern video and playback equipment
  • Ball machines and latest training materials
  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Nautilus weight-training center

What to Bring

Resident Campers bring:

  • Shorts, T-shirts, socks, shoes
  • Twin bed sheets, blanket and pillow
  • Personal toiletries
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Tennis rackets
  • Swimsuit
  • Personal spending money (for snacks, racket string, etc.)

Resident campers will stay in air-conditioned dormitory rooms and will be supervised at all times by the camp staff. Driving students will turn their car keys in at registration.

Commuter Campers bring:

  • T-shirts, shorts and shoes
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Tennis rackets
  • Personal spending money (for snacks, racket string, etc.)

Awards
At each camp’s close on Friday, an awards ceremony will be held at the tennis courts on the TJC main campus, beginning at noon. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Campers will be grouped by skill and/or age level. All campers check in Sunday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Claridge Hall, corner of Baxter & Lake, on the TJC main campus. Check out of residence hall on Friday at noon.

Group pictures taken on Sunday; individual pictures also available. Photographer will be part of check-in to provide order/cost informa-tion; picture is optional.

Day campers report each day at 8 a.m. at the tennis courts and may be picked up at 5 p.m. All camps end at noon on Friday.

Tuition
Resident Campers: $380
Commuter Campers: $290
(lunch included)

Families with more than one tennis camper will receive a discount of $50 for each additional child attending the same tennis camp.
