Apply Online

At Tyler Junior College, we work hard to make every student's admissions process as smooth as possible.

**The TJC Online Campus is for students who wish to take their entire degree, or to finish their degree, online.  If you plan on supplementing your college coursework with some online classes, please visit the department of Distance Learning or speak with an advisor. Students who wish to take some online courses can register on Apache Access along with their regular courses. **

Below, you'll find seven easy steps to success for making sure you meet the admissions requirements at TJC:

Step 1: Apply to TJC

Apply online - it's quick and easy!  All you have to do is fill out an application online.

Step 2: Complete Testing Requirements

Submit official TSI scores (unless you are exempt). If you have not taken the TSI, please note that the TJC Testing Center offers the TSI placement exam. Check with the Testing Center for available test times and fees. If you think you may be exempt from taking the TSI because of your SAT, ACT, TAKS scores, or you have completed previous college coursework, contact the office of admissions.

Step 3: Submit your Transcripts

Submit either your official high school transcript or your GED scores. High school transcripts must have the date of graduation posted on the transcript. All high school and college/university transcripts must be official (no faxed copies).

Step 4: Get Advising

Students must meet with an Academic Advisor before attempting to register IF they:

  • are new to TJC
  • have attended TJC less than one year or have less than 24 hours credit
  • have placement test scores indicating Developmental Education coursework level and non-TSI complete status
  • are on academic probation or suspension
  • have less than a 2.0 GPA

Step 5: Apply for Financial Aid

(not a required step, but highly encouraged)
TJC assists students in applying for financial aid, scholarships, veterans' benefits, and vocational/technical students may also be eligible for Perkins Grant. Start this process early in the calendar year and be mindful of deadlines. A separate application is required to be considered for scholarships. Priority deadline for that application is March 1 for the upcoming fall and spring semesters.
