Prior to joining TJC, she served as vice president of operations for Trinity (CHRISTUS) Clinic from September 1997 to January 2013, where she directed daily operations of 35 sites and 300 providers.

Swan received her bachelor's degree in healthcare management from Century University and earned her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Crown College.

She is a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association, Texas Distance Learning Association, Medical Group Management Association and Healthcare Financial Management Administration.

In 2017, she received the “Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Learning Award” from the Texas Distance Learning Association, and the “Outstanding Distance Learning Faculty Award” from the Northeast Texas Consortium of Colleges and Universities.

Swan is a highly sought-after speaker in medical coding and class instruction, and has made numerous presentations at local and national conferences and symposiums.

“Loretta Swan is uniquely qualified for the role of dean. Her strong background and wealth of experience will serve her well as she leads the School of Professional & Technical Programs at TJC,” said Dr. Deana Sheppard, TJC provost and vice president for academic and student affairs.

Sheppard continued, “Loretta has a passion to serve TJC and the programs, faculty and staff in the school of PTP. She is an authentic leader with strong ties to the greater Tyler community, and I am honored to have her as a part of my team.”
