TJC offers accelerated, all-online Winter Term

Registration opens Sunday, Nov. 6, for Tyler Junior College’s Winter Term.

Winter Term is a three-week, all-online session set Dec. 12-Jan. 4. The term pauses for holiday breaks on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Sunday, Jan. 1.

Courses offered include art appreciation, algebra, government, history, music appreciation, psychology, public speaking, statistics, trigonometry and more.

“Considering students are taking a full-credit course condensed into just three weeks, Winter Term is very intensive,” said David Funk, TJC professor and director of the TJC Presidential Honors program. “For students who are highly motivated, we’ve had a lot of success.”

According to data from previous years, students who take TJC’s Winter Term courses tend to complete their courses at a higher rate – and make higher grades – than those in regular semesters.

TJC student Shelby Click registered for Winter Term in 2015. Click said, “I found Winter Term extremely beneficial because it allowed me to complete more in a year than I normally would have.”
