Professors named endowed teaching chair winners

Three Tyler Junior College professors were recently named 2012 Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence award winners by the college.

In addition to a check for $2,000, recipients receive a framed certificate and sponsorship of their attendance of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) conference in May at The University of Texas at Austin.

To be considered for the award, faculty members must be nominated by a colleague and subsequently complete a comprehensive application process that includes written recommendations from students and TJC faculty members.

This year’s winners are: Lisa Baker, medical laboratory technology professor – the Dorothy Fay and Jack White Endowed Chair; Lindsey Gainer, medical office/business management professor – the Watson W. Wise Foundation Endowed Chair; and Kathrine Murray, mathematics/developmental professor – the Dorothy Fay and Jack White Endowed Chair

Other nominees were: Gloria Brooks, English professor; Iris Hobson, associate degree nursing professor; Jeanne Ivy, psychology professor; Laura Krantz, communications and student media professor/department chair; Stephanie Lassanske, social work/sociology professor; and Kathy Wilson, associate degree nursing professor.

Winners and nominees will receive medallions of recognition from NISOD.
