TJC Jazz Festival set Thursday and Friday

Chris Vadala, former saxophonist and woodwind artist with Chuck Mangione and current professor of saxophone and jazz at the University of Maryland, is this year's TJC Jazz Festival guest artist.
The TJC Jazz Festival is set 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 21, in Wise Auditorium.
Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The TJC jazz studies program is under the direction of Heather Mensch.
TJC Jazz Ensemble I includes: Josh Alderete, Pasadena; Max Dannenberg, Mineola; Jeff Dees, New London; Grant Ewing, Tyler; Angel Galvan, Tyler; Michael Heatley, Tyler; Joshua Kennedy, Palestine; Jose Lopez, Commerce; Sean McBrayer, Huntingdon, Pa.: Shiloh McGraw, Tyler; Forrest Morgan, Tyler; Austin Phelps, Palestine; Austin Sandefur, Avinger; Brian Sanders, Tyler; Joseph Schmidt, Kilgore; Jacob Wellman, Mabank; and Michael McGee, Whitehouse.
TJC Jazz Ensemble II includes: Nick Moran, Chapel Hill; Troy Lowndes, Tyler; Michael Smith, Troup; Colton Wilkerson, Mineola; Victoria Hiles, Tyler; Josh Holcomb, Tyler; Krysta Benge, Arp; David Gean, Palestine; Petra Palomo, Chandler; Brad Hammett, Henderson; Hayden Gable, Van; Danny Palmer, Van; Clarence Schwarz, Lytle; Nolan Bryan, Henderson; Victor Boswell, Lorena; and Jordan Wilbanks, Sherman.
Each night will also feature a special warm-up act starting at 7 p.m.
Thursday night’s warm-up act will be the Souled Out Jazz Orchestra, including several TJC faculty members and community friend George Faber. Friday night’s warm-up act will be Rafael Espinoza, a TJC alumnus and Berklee College of Music graduate, who recently won the Austin Blues Society’s Heart of TX Blues Challenge.
