Published Tuesday, 4th February 2014

A new dome-theater show, “To Space & Back,” is set for launch 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Center for Earth & Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College.

Dr. Tom Hooten, TJC physics professor and science center director, will host the premiere as part of the February installment of the center’s Public Astronomy Lecture Series.

Admission is $5 per person, or free with a valid TJC ID.

Targeted for general and school audiences, the 25-minute documentary fosters an appreciation for space exploration and scientific research and how they have affected the daily lives of human beings on Earth.

Narrated by James May (host of BBC’s “Top Gear” and “The Edge Of Space”), “To Space & Back” looks at how we perceive the planet and how information gathered from space has influenced culture and the direction of science while helping to shape products and services in everything from medicine to communications.
