Ribbon-cutting for Lindale expansion set Friday

The Tyler Junior College presence in Lindale is growing to meet increased demand.

The College will cut the ribbon on an additional 2,700 square feet of leased space for TJC-Lindale, located in the Identity Center, 2808 N. Main St., on Friday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m.

The new space is on the east side of the Identity Center complex. It will provide three new classrooms and two additional office spaces, said Heather Stokke, TJC-Lindale site coordinator. The College presently operates two classrooms with office space on the north side of the Identity Center.

TJC-Lindale is home to a cohort of licensed vocational nursing students and offers core curriculum credit and continuing education courses.

Fall enrollment at TJC-Lindale grew from 102 in 2009 to 267 this year. Spring enrollment for 2011 is on a similar pace.

Speakers for Friday's ceremony include TJC President Dr. Mike Metke, TJC Dean of Continuing Studies Dr. Aubrey Sharpe and Lindale Mayor Jim Mallory.
