TJC hosts international transfer admissions recruiters from five British universities

TJC students interested in completing their bachelor’s or master’s degree in the United Kingdom had a rare opportunity to meet with representatives from five British universities on Friday.

International transfer admissions recruiters were on hand from University of Chichester, University of Lincoln, Goldsmiths University of London, University of Huddersfield and Manchester Metropolitan University – all based in the United Kingdom. Their visit focused on expanding the international collaboration among institutions of higher learning between the United States and Great Britain. Admissions recruiters from the visiting institutions provided information to TJC students interested in continuing their education through specific baccalaureate or graduate degrees.

TJC Provost & Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Juan E. Mejia commended the TJC faculty and staff for their vision on globalization and internationalization of higher education.

He said, “Our faculty and staff are able to create teaching and learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom, leading to world class thinking; therefore, opportunities to collaborate with these fine institutions is a natural next step.”

TJC Director for Academic Advising Jan Adams coordinated the visit and strategically scheduled events with students, administrators, and related faculty and staff.
“This was an unusual and exciting opportunity for our students and staff to visit with these five university recruiters to discuss transfer possibilities and funding options, including the fact that they accept our federal student loans and offer scholarships,” she said.
