DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: The study of the art of singing in the bel canto style including breath control, breath support, vowel formation and other techniques of vocal production through vocal exercises tailored to the individual needs of each student and the study of the art song literature from the English, Italian, German and French repertoires.

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: A detailed study of Italian diction as it is applied to vocal literature. The course includes pronunciation of Italian vowels, consonants, and semi-consonants, as well as familiarization with and memorization of the rules governing pronunciation. Examination will include both written and oral portions. (Offered every other year in the Spring semester)
