Franklin Kimlicko, M.M.
Mr. Kimlicko's responsibilities include teaching
sound production technology,
guitar ensemble and private lessons
in classical guitar. He also prepares music and/or sound for the
annual Nutcracker Ballet in the Fall, and the annual Musical and
Apache Belle Show in the Spring semester. As adjunct Artist-Lecturer
in Music, he teaches classical guitar at the University of Texas
at Tyler.
His numerous solo, duet, and quartet transcriptions
for classical guitar have been performed in concert by Pepe Romero
and Los Romeros guitar quartet and recorded by Angel Romero on the
Telarc® label and his series of recorded accompaniments for
classical guitar are popular study aids for students and teachers.
He has been the recipient of the Thomas
H. Shelby, Jr. Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence and has been
a Piper Professor nominee. Students from his programs have successfully
transferred to Belmont College, Southern Methodist University, Southwest
Texas State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas
A&M at Corpus Christi, University of Texas at El Paso, University
of Texas at Tyler, and North Texas State University (now University
of North Texas).
Before coming to Tyler Junior College,
he started the guitar studies program at North Texas State University.
He was an adjunct instructor of guitar at Southern Methodist University
and at Ambassador College and has given master classes at the Hochschule
fur Musik in Hamburg, Germany. He has also taught music literature,
music theory, and sight singing and ear training at Tyler Junior
College.
Mr. Kimlicko has a Master of Music degree
with a major in Classical Guitar from Southern Methodist University.
He has a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Composition from
North Texas State University where he was a member of the world-renowned
One O'Clock Lab Band. He has had additional undergraduate training
in music theory at Manhattan School of Music as well as graduate
training in MIDI applications and sound production technology at
the University of Hartford and at Duquesne University. He has had
private training with Pepe Romero in classical guitar and has participated
in several sound production and recording workshops.
Mr. Kimlicko has performed, as a member
of the orchestra, with the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Opera, the
Dallas Summer Musicals, the Fort Worth Symphony, the East Texas
Symphony, the Miss Texas Pageant®, and the Miss Teenage America
Pageant®. He continues to perform in the East Texas area.
