The purpose of the
Vaughn Electronic Research Center (VERC) is to provide a computer
resource for faculty, staff, and students. The VERC, is located on the second
floor of the
Library, has personal computers available for student use. Some computers have
Windows XP Professional, while others have Windows 2000 Professional
operating
systems, Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 with
FrontPage, as well as
Netscape 7.1 and Internet Explorer 6.0 for Internet research.
All students are required to present a valid TJC student
ID card in order to
use the lab facilities.
Upon entering the lab, students must present a current ID to the lab
assistant on
duty, and
specify the reason for use of the computers.
Courtesy card holders may use the computer lab by presenting
their current
Vaughn Library
Courtesy Card at the desk in the computer lab.
All such users must give
precedence to
currently enrolled TJC students.
Lab assistants are on duty to check students in and out of
the lab, to monitor
the software
and equipment, and -- when not busy -- to
assist patrons with getting
started on the computer.
Lab assistants may not
be familiar with every aspect of the
program(s) being used,
but will assist
in the areas with which they are familiar. |
