French Courses and Descriptions
Conversational French (Fren
1300) An introduction to French language and culture through
conversational patterns using audio-visual and communicative materials
with emphasis on oral performance.
Conversational French II (Fren
1310) A continuation of Fren 1300 which is an introduction to
French language and culture through audio, visual and communicative
materials with an emphasis on oral performance.
Elementary French I (Fren 1411) An audio-lingual
and communicative approach with extensive use of audio and video
cassettes to teach all facets of the language in a cultural setting;
for beginning students. This course fulfills the foreign language
requirement for the B.A. degree. Check with your transferring university.
Elementary French II (Fren 1412) A continuation
of Elementary French II with audio-lingual and communicative approaches
teaching all facets of the language in a cultural setting. Prerequisite
Fren 1411 or equivalent.
Intermediate French I (Fren 2311) An intensive
review of French grammar, through readings in history, language
and culture with audio cassettes and film; emphasis on oral language
skills; conducted mainly in French. Prerequisite: Fren 1412 or equivalent.
Intermediate French II (Fren 2312) A continuation
of Intermediate French I with readings and extensive grammar exercises.
Prerequisite: Fren 2311 or equivalent.
