Student Events - Homecoming Week

We hope that each of you will join in all the Homecoming festivities featuring this year's theme of the Roaring 20s! (think: The Great Gatsby). Homecoming Week schedule is below:

MONDAY, OCTOBER 21
  • Homecoming King and Queen Elections - Rogers Student Center & Jenkins Hall @ 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Temporary Tattoos - Rogers Student Center @ 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Sidewalk Chalk Decoration  *postponed until tomorrow morning due to tonight's rain forecast.
  • Office Decoration
Drumbeat starts @ 8 a.m. (Check out our Spirits and Traditions page for the history of the Drumbeat tradition.)
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22
  • Homecoming King and Queen Elections - Rogers Student Center & Jenkins Hall @ 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Apache Blood Drive – Rogers Student Center @ 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Office & Sidewalk Chalk Decoration Judging
  • RHA’s Fall Fest – Ornelas Residential Complex @ 6 – 8 p.m.

Haunted houses, games, trick-or-treating, bounce houses and more and everyone is invited, including TJC friends/family, students and the community.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23
  • Homecoming King and Queen Elections - Rogers Student Center & Jenkins Hall @ 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Apache Blood Drive – Rogers Student Center @ 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • “Party like its 1926 Dance.”- RSC Apache Rooms@ 8 p.m. followed by Late Night Breakfast in Apache Junction @ 11 p.m.

This event will be a one of a kind experience for everyone to enjoy! There will be music, dancing and tons of fun! Don’t forget to dress up in 1920’s clothing. The Late Night Breakfast will be FREE for the first 500 students!

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24
  • “Campus Capers” - Wise Auditorium @ 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 and show will begin at 7:30.

This will be an “Amateur Night” Talent Show where TJC students show off their talents including dancing, singing and much more! Only the TEN of the most talented acts will be chosen to perform! Cash Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 performances! Homecomings court “Most Beautiful” girl and “Most Handsome” will be chosen and announced.

  • Video Game Tournament in REC room on the second floor of RSC

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25
  • Apache Nation Parade @ 10:30 a.m.
  • Pep Rally @ 11:00 a.m.
  • Homecoming Block Party @ 12:00 p.m.

Let’s show our school spirit and enjoy a day full of fun! Meet at the Louise Brookshire tennis courts for the Apache Nation Parade through campus finishing up on Jenkins Lawn at 11 a.m. for the TJC PEP RALLY with the announcement of Top 5 Homecoming candidates and performances by the Apache Band, Apache Belles, TJC Cheer and more!

Following the parade and Pep Rally at 12 p.m., join TJC students, alumni, faculty and staff at the Homecoming Block Party where you can enjoy food, outdoor games, activities, etc. from various campus organizations. Be there to get excited for the upcoming game on Saturday where the TJC Apaches will beat Kilgore College!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26
  • Rim March and Homecoming Pre-Game, Rose Stadium @ 2 p.m.
  • Tailgate @ 2 p.m.
  • Drumbeat continues until Kick Off
  • TJC vs. Kilgore Game will be held at Rose Stadium at 3 p.m.
  • "The Venue" @ 9 - 11 p.m., Jean  Browne Theatre

The Venue (TJC's Original Coffee House) is open to all students who would like to showcase 5 minutes of any piece of performance art (poetry, music, prose, etc.). No registration necessary, just show up!
