Open Computer Lab Computers & Software

Each computer station in the lab has a computer with the Windows 7 operating system, a variety of internet browsers, and Microsoft Office 2013.  Selected stations throughout the lab have been installed with software programs specific to individual degree programs.  If you have a specific software need, please speak to the lab staff when checking in so they can assign you to the appropriate computer.  As there are limited machines with specific programs, you may have to wait for a machine in particularly heavy usage periods.

You must present a valid TJC student ID card in order to use the lab facilities. Students may be asked to surrender their ID card to the lab assistant on duty and may be asked to specify the reason for the use of the computers to help us determine future computing needs.  IDs will be returned when the student checks out of the lab. Non-students who possess a Vaughn Library Courtesy cards may also use the lab by presenting their card.  All such courtesy card users must give precedence to currently enrolled TJC students.

Lab assistants are on duty to check students in and out of the lab, to monitor the software and equipment, and, when available, to assist patrons with getting started on the computer. Lab assistants are not computer tutors nor should they be expected to be familiar with every program being used; however, they will assist as they are able.

The lab is usually closed when the campus is closed, including national holidays, Winter Break, and Spring Break. Please feel free to call 903-510-2531 to speak to a lab assistant if you have any questions.
